Day Cooper Day’s directors combine deep technical SSAS expertise with a clear focus on strong governance and adviser support.
Day Cooper Day was established in 2013 by the three founding directors, Sonia, Tom and Patrick with one simple vision – to provide bespoke, streamlined SSAS administration services. The goal was to work with financial advisers and other professional intermediaries to help their clients make the most of their pensions, in a forward-thinking and flexible way, by being one of the few sole SSAS providers in the market.
Over the first two years of trading, we grew our client base through our financial adviser network, becoming one of the fastest growing SSAS providers in the UK. At the same time, we grew our staff to ensure we maintained the high service standards we strive for.
By organically building our client base, we hit 1,000 SSAS in 2019 and our efforts were recognised by Defaqto and Moneyfacts with 5-star ratings, which have been maintained to this day.
Our team continued to grow, helping to maintain our valued relationships with advisers and clients alike, all whilst looking ahead to build on what we had already achieved. As a result, we moved to bigger offices in Shoreditch to future proof our growth.
Day Cooper Day celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2023 and solidified itself as a leading SSAS provider in the UK.
In 2024, Day Cooper Day sold to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), dedicating itself to those who had worked so hard to grow the company and committing to the future of being an independent SSAS provider.
Two years on, the business continues to grow under the leadership of the team who helped build it, while the founders remain actively involved in supporting its development. The transition has brought together the best of both worlds: continuity of experience and established client relationships, combined with the energy, ideas and ownership of the next generation of the team. For our clients, that means the same trusted partnership and expertise, strengthened by a growing business and team committed to taking it forward for the long term.
Small Self-Administered Schemes (SSASs) are occupational pension schemes established by limited companies for directors and senior employees.
SSASs offer the highest level of flexibility of any pension scheme in the UK, coupled with the greatest level of control for the members. This includes loans to the sponsoring employer and the ability to purchase commercial property.
Although many opt for SIPPs, a SSAS can be an attractive option for multiple members, making co-investment simple and cost effective. Furthermore, each SSAS is its own trust and not connected to a provider, giving the members control at all times.
With the support of proactive and professional trustees, SSASs are not as complicated as people believe and can be a great tool for business owners.
We are a specialist SSAS provider with 100% of our business focused in the SSAS market. We act as professional trustee and scheme administrator, dealing with all aspects of the SSAS. We work with advisers to ensure the scheme is run as effectively as possible, this includes being on hand to discuss all scenarios to fulfil the client’s objectives.
Our approach goes beyond administration. We invest time in understanding our clients, their businesses and what they are looking to achieve, building long-term relationships rather than simply processing transactions. We remain actively engaged throughout the life of the scheme, proactively considering client interests and working with them and their advisers to explore what may be possible within the SSAS framework.
This combination of specialist expertise, continuity and personal involvement means clients have a team that knows their scheme and is accessible when opportunities, questions or changing circumstances arise.
Our charging structure is equally straightforward, with clear fees and no hidden costs, giving clients transparency and certainty from the outset.
